Hope in God
All of us have moments in our lives when nothing appears to go quite right. Your automobile breaks down, or you get really sick, or your basement floods. You might even be having workplace issues, family disagrrements, unemployment nightmare or whatever else it might be; problems increasing abruptly. If it's not one thing, it's another. You're just ready to throw in the towel and call it quits. Due to the current state of the world, having these feelings are valid. There are planes disappearing in the sky, incurable diseases, gang wars, political uprising, you name it! It isn’t fun to address these items, however, if you have faith, you can find electricity and encouragement within the bible. It is a book full of promises and hope for those that are downcast! I have turned to the bible in many instances when I was searching for hope and guidance, it has never failed me. The great news is that it will not fail you either!
Melancholy and tension have usually been an intrinsic part of life on earth. In instances of darkness, christians have sought the encouraging phrases of scripture to offer power, understanding, and to feel the love and reality of God. No matter the misfortunes we may experience, there is always an opportunity to select love and push past resentment and fear. The bible was created to remind us of such reality and to encourage us to take God at His word, literally.
Here are a few scriptures of encouragement that will be of help to you:
Psalm 9:9-10: "The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in the times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you" (New International Version (NIV)).
Psalm 34:10b: "but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing" (English Standard Version (ESV)).
Isaiah 26:3-4: "You will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You -- in both inclination and character], Because he trusts and take refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation]. Trust [confidently] in the Lord forever [He is your fortress, your shield, your banner], for the Lord God is an everlasting Rock [the Rock of Ages]" (Amplified Bible (AMP)).
1 Chronicles 16:11: "Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!" (English Standard Version (ESV))
Psalm 32:7-8: "You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you" (New International Version (NIV)).
1 Thessalonians 5:11: "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing" (New International Version (NIV)).
